After 5 months of work, on the early morning of June 28, Russ Huson, myself and others finally got a clean 200 Gev proton beam to the 30 " bubble chamber (first time any NAL beam to the BC) Russ turned on the BC and took photos. Got maybe 2000. I immediately set up scan rules and later that day FAF scanners were looking. They found events like this! I wrote a short paper on it, but Wilson (head of NAL) said we could not publish as we were not part of the pp experiment! I still have the handwritten draft of the first experimental results out of NAL!
