Album: 1945 Al Ljung Album

     Album:Family/Historical photos.:Gramps Allen:1940 Decade:1945 Al Ljung Album
1945-1
( comments) Someone (Britta?) wrote on back"91 ar" (ar with circle over r is Swedish for year) This is Britta in 1945. If it is here actual birthday it is Feb 24, 1945.
1945-2
( comments) Dad labeled "Orangeburg" Mom wrote on back "January 1945" "18" Note Myrtle parked behind house. A now discarded reprint of this "52" was ZL99 643. Mom just wrote "Our Orangeburg homestead"
1945-3
( comments) Someone (Allen?) wrote on back "Orangeburg N. York Winter 1945 -46" "18" Mom wrote on back of identcal print (ZL4 342 now discarded) "Our Orangeburg homestead and Myrtle" Dad added "1945 - 46" However, this is clearly same day as ZL9 505 which Mom dated as Jan 1945. I am going with Jan 1945 date as it makes sense they would photograph it when they were first there rather than when Mom was leaving for the TB San.
1945-4
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Orangeburg N.Y. Winter 1944" "18" I believe this creek was in our back yard. Assume same day as house photo, so Jan 1945.
1945-5
( comments) Dad labeled "Lund Family" Alice probably wrote on back "taken Feb. 11 '45 That bright sun made an awful smirk of me" "189" Photo sent to Mom. The order left to right is Alice, Bill, Eleanore, Marjorie, Stuart Swanson (Husband of Marjorie), Roger (6 years old), Ardyce, Charles, Zana. This is their house at 1010 Douglas, Alexandria.
1945-6
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Donnie Orangeburg N.Y. 1945" "18" On a reprint "172" Mom wrote "February, 1945"
1945-7
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Irene & Kenny Orangeburg, N.Y. March, 1945" "18" Possibly first photo of Ken.
1945-8
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Kenny & Irene March, 1945 Orangeburg, N.Y." "18" Possibly same day as First photo of Ken (ZL9 500) Mom has same clothes and shade pull is in exact same place. But the table is in different position...
1945-9
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Orangeburg N.Y. Fall 1944" Earlier Mom wrote Spring 1945, but crossed it out. "18" stamped on back. On a reprint of this photo ("52") that was in Albin album, Mom wrote "March 11,1945" Because this is an "18" photo I am going with the March 11, 1945 date. Also note that the shirt I am wearing shows up in a July 1945 photo (ZL9 507) and I look about the same size. I still have the little wagon Ida made for me.
1945-10
( comments) Dad labeled "Dopey" Mom wrote on back "Donnie Orangeburg, N. Y. Fall of 1944 or Spring 1945" "18" Dad wrote on a "52" reprint "Donny in Dad's "Fatigue" Army Clothes" I am guessing spring 1945 like other "18" photos. So assume March 1945.
1945-11
( comments) Someone wrote on back "March 1945" "665" No information on who this is. Don guesses it is Eleanore Lund.
1945-12
( comments) Dad labeled "Doug ?" Someone wrote on back "Filippino Laundry Apr. '45" I believe it is Doug standing in Jeep. He was an Army Air Force pilot in the Philippines. From commendation letter (see Doug's War Records) we think Doug was at Sanga Sanga Phillipines Air Base in April 1945.
1945-13
( comments) Doug wrote on back "Bomb Crater Apr '45" "63" handwritten by Doug. This is Doug in the Philippines. If Doug is in Sanga Sanga, then this could be a crater from the fight to toss the Japanese off the base in early April. In fact, if Doug participated in that action, it could be a crater that he himself made in a mission.
1945-14
( comments) Doug has written on back "At ease in the Philippines April '45" Also someone wrote "56". Doug is in the middle.
1945-15
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Roger & Doris Dowding Orangeburg N.York April 22, 1945" "078" On a duplicate of this photo Mom wrote "April 22, 1945 Sponsors Doris & Roger Dowding and Kenneth Dwayne Two months old Baptism day"
1945-16
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Irene, Kenny, Allen, Donnie Prangeburg Kenny's Babtism Spring 1945" "18" First family portrait of larger family - Unfortunately Dad is in the shadows. April 22, 1945.
1945-17
( comments) Mom wrote onback "Roger Doris & Kenny Kenny's babtism Spring 1945" "18" April 22, 1945
1945-18
( comments) Someone (Fran?) wrote on back "Mayday, '45" Donna, Alice Joy, Herb Jr in Chicago May 1, 1945.
1945-19
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Kenny & Donnie June, 1945 Orangeburg N.Y." "18"
1945-20
( comments) Mom wrote on back "July 16, 1945 Orangeburg, 1948 (crossed out)" "18" Don on his 2nd birthday.
1945-21
( comments) Mom wrote on back "July 1945" "078" Don, Allen, Ken My birthday is an "18" photo and so I assume this is later in July. If a weekend it could be Sun 22 or 29. However there are Oct 1945 "18" photos and so someone else could have taken these photos. If so, they could be anytime in July. From next photo we know July 29, 1945.
1945-22
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Palisades on the Hudson Summer 1945" "078" On a duplicate "078" Mom wrote "Mommy & the boys July 29, 1945 Palisades on the Hudson"
1945-23
( comments) Dad labeled "Rosie O'brien No connection" Someone wrote onback "Rosie Nelson" "53" I have no idea who this is. Guess summer 1945.
1945-24
( comments) See ZL9 535 for what Dad wrote on back. Basically this is a photo of the Quarter Master Carpenter Repair Crew that Dad was in. Dad is back row 2nd from left, and I think Jesse Basnight on left in middle squatting row "761" stamp 1945
1945-25
( comments) This is back of ZL9 528
1945-26
( comments) Mom wrote on back "August 1945 Bremerton, Wash. Claire Thompson & Dad" No stamp onback. Claire must be a fellow worker with Albin.
1945-27
( comments) No information, but with ZL9 534 in album and that is an Aug 1945 photo. "58J" Stamp. This is Albin probably in Bremerton Washington during WWII. Was he living in there? Assume Aug 1945.
1945-28
( comments) Mom wrote on back "September 1945 Donnie & Patty Roth Orangeburg N.Y." "18" Are we planning to pole vault the creek?
1945-29
( comments) Dad wrote on folder "Douglas Hanson U.S. Air Force WWII" Mom ? wrote date on front "1945" Note photograph taken in California. If 1945 is correct, I believe this would be after the war ended and Doug was back in the US.
1945-30
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Orangeburg , N.Y. October, 1945" "18" The 18 stamp is strange as there appears to be an 78 stamp on flat edged photos in between. Did someone else take the 78 photos? At any rate, this is Ken and Grandpa Albin. He must have come out to visit.
1945-31
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Dad Donnie Orangeburg N.Y. October 1945" "18" Albin and Don balancing on a sawhorse.
1945-32
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Orangeburg N.Y. Irene, Kenny, Donnie, Allen Thanksgiving Day 1945" "18" Thanksgiving was Nov 22. Note Myrtle.

1945-34
( comments) "Thanksgiving Day 1945 Orangeburg, New York" "66"

1945-36
( comments) "1945 Thanksgiving Day Orangeburg N.Y. Irene & Kenny" "66"
1945-37
( comments) Mom wrote on back "November 1945 Orangeburg N.Y. Donnie & Kenny" "18"
1945-38
( comments) "Thanksgiving Day 1945 Orangeburg N.Y." "66" Don, unidentified female could be Doris Dowding, Irene.
1945-39
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Alice & Jesse Basnight December 1945" "66" stamped on back. Picture taken outside Ljung house. I am guessing that is their daughter Betty.
1945-40
( comments) See ZL12 411 for scan of what Irene wrote on back. This is the sanatorium where Mom was treated for TB in late 1945 and early 1946. Assume Mom got card Dec 1945.
1945-41
( comments) Back of ZL12 410. Dec 1945
1945-42
( comments) No infomation. I don't recognize anything in this photo. Put in 1945 as it was in album with war photos (1942 - 1945)
1945-43
( comments) Mom wrote on back "Pastor Maurice Swenson at door of Spruce Hill Church" He might be the pastor that married Mom and Dad. Guess 1945.
1945-44
( comments) Don took photos of photos that were at 2010 Hanson Reunion. No info, but this is Ronnie about 3 years old. So 1945.
