On back "January 31, 1937." On a duplicate of this photo (ZL3 079 - now discarded Mom wrote on back " Arnold and Doug Winter 1936 - 37" But Dad labeled it "Doug and Carl - 1937" I don't know an Arnold, although it is possible that Carl's middle name is Arnold. I believe Doug is on the right, I am going to assume Dad is correct and it is Carl. Jan 31,1937.

Dad labeled "Al's 24 Model "T" Ford" I think that is Liberty School in background. Thus Allen is on the road to the cemetery here (note how narrow). On a 1943 reprint of this photo Dad labeled "24 Ford - 1st car $18 ?" Spring 1937.

On back "Brown .... Jul 1 1943" So this is a reprint of earlier photo. At this point Irene appears to insert random photos that perhaps came from Allen. I don't know who this is `Maybe goes with next photo of Allen shooting rifle. One of the next pictures was a duplicate of a photo made for Allen's High School Yearbook so assume these are also Yearbook 1937.

On back "7/4/1937" I think Mom put wrong date on this photo. I think it is in California about the time of ZL5 051 (June 20, 1937) From left this appears to be. Doug Watkins, Aunt Marie Watkins, and Uncle Roy Watkins (with Marie's hand on his neck). Marie is a sister (Hannah Marie Olson) of Emma Olson I don't know who the other 3 men are. Note that Doug looks very much like the son of Clara and Gust Jants (photo ZL6 005 June 1939) Perhaps not surprising as Marie and Clara are sisters.

Mom wrote on back "6/20/37 Departing for East" Mom ? labeled "6 - 20 - 37 Doug Watkins Uncle Roy and Aunt Marie Watkins" Marie is a sister (Hannah Marie Olson) of Emma Olson. This is from Mom's first trip out to California. This photo is as she leaves by train to go East. I think she went to Chicago - see July 1937 photos with black border.

No info, but photo has same black border as previous two photos dated 7/4/1937. I think this is the "Heavy weight" that is also in ZL5 201. An April 1940 picture. If so, then Mom knew him for about 3 years!! Dad said he was interested in Mom.

Mom wrote on back "Erick Ljung" Although this photo is in with 1919 photos (probably because Albin and Ida lived with Erick in 1919), I think it was later based on apparent age. Also the fact that Mom wrote on it indicates a later date. He died in 1939 at age 76. Assume this is 1937.

Dad labeled "Picnic at Spruce Center August Andersons, P.O. Johnsons and Ljungs"s I don't know who Ausgust Andersons are (not in family tree) so lots of ? in identifing persons. The rows are mixed up and so just going from left to right we have Albin Ljung, ?, Agnus Johnson, ? in back, probably Johnson girl knelling, looks like Pearl Anderson, Ida Ljung in back, Jennie Johnson, ? in back, ? in front, Johnson girl, probably August Anderson in back, ? face below August, Johnson girl knelling, Allen Ljung, Howard Hanson (sure looks like him - he is not part of these families, but might be there because of Agnes - his future wife), Johnson girl in front - probably Audrey. Assuming it is Audrey we can date this photo. She was born Sept 1932 and she looks 4 or 5, so guess 1937. Guessing at the names of the three unnamed Johnson girls. The first one might be Lorayne (or might not even be a Johnson girl). The second one could be Helen and the third knelling one could be Margaret. ZL5 097 was another copy of this photo (now deleted) No info on that photo although it was included with 1940 photos. I am sticking with my estimate of 1937.

There was a copy of this photo as ZL1 026 (now deleted) That photo Allen labeled as "AC Hanson's Cadillac used as Nelson school bus" And I commented "Looks like recent photo of part of old photo. Don guesses orig photo around 1928." Clearly I guessed wrong. In this original photo one can see the license plate is 1937.
