Album:2008:05-05 Europe Teaching Gig:Zurich

When Ursi and I weren't travelling to teach Lindy Hop and Blues, I would stick around in Zurich. Not the most exciting city, but at least it's clean. ;)
There's a "cube-a-tron"
in the Zurich train station! ("cube-a-tron" is an art project from Burning Man that rocks - it was amazing to see someone build it in real life (perhaps connected to the Burning Man artists??))
But what was interesting
is that you could actually control this cube-a-tron
From a semi-clear touch display,
which is fuzzy here, you could pick patterns to display, games to play, or just draw.
Such as my initials here.
At my workspace,
wearing my new Swiss glasses (forgot mine at home!) and drinking my third favorite Ginger Beer: Elephant Ginger Beer (1st is D&G Old Jamaica Ginger Beer, 2nd is Stewarts Ginger Beer)
My "home/office" for one month,
Ursi's apartment
I meet old friend Fabienne
(who is now engaged and pregnant!)
..and she shows me around
nearby Baden
Since the Swiss are neutral,
they don't have much use for their army, so they make them setup fences. I found that wonderful.
Zurich has an old city,
which is like Gamla Stan in Stockholm or the Ramblas in Barcelona..
..except it's overly clean.
I prefer Barcelona. :)
I saw this silly train
and had to go for a ride, though it ended up shutting down for maintenance right after dropping me off on top of a high part of Zurich.
..leaving me stranded
with this beautiful view of Zurich.
The greatest cat owner ever,
put a cat door and balcony in his 2nd floor window, and this cat sized spiral staircase. That totally rocks.
Looking off towards the construction
over the train station (my place was off in the distance and to the right a bit)
The silly train (a.k.a. the Polybahn)
running tests while I happily walk down to the bottom.
Warmup before class.
That's David and Anna in the front.
After our last blues class,
we setup a "speakeasy" one-night blues party in the dance room behind a nearby restaurant. Ursi is doing lord knows what. :)
Versace understands the Tao of Steve. Ursi's last day
teaching the "Swing Kids" - the level 6 students in Zurich.
Swing out!
