I had grown a beard for many months (and for the first time in my life). The plan was to shave it on the wedding day, but someone pointed out to me that sometimes if you shave a beard off, your skin color is different because of lack of sun, so I got worried and shaved it off early. I should have realized that my pasty-white skin was a sign I wouldn't have to worry.
And on the way up,
